RICHMOND, Va. >> It was yet another Dey Hamlin runaway for Joe Gibbs Racing on Saturday night in what tued out to be an anticlimactic end to NASCAR’s regular season. The fireworks came off the track at Richmond Inteational Raceway, where Tony Stewart intentionally wrecked Ryan Newman before Newman angrily chided his former boss for the accident that officially ended Newman’s chances to make the playoffs. The verbal beat down from Newman came with 37 laps left, before Hamlin finished off his third career Sprint Cup win at his home track while giving JGR its third consecutive victory at the track and ninth in the last 15 races. Newman called Stewart “bipolar,” said the retiring race car driver...

Truex started the summer season by leading an astounding 588 of 600 miles to win at Charlotte on Memorial Day weekend. He closed the season by outracing Harvick on Labor Day weekend for his second crown jewel win of the season. Harvick had the dominant car. He led 214 of 367 laps but this run was cut short by slow pit stops. At one point, Harvick fell 11 spots from first to 12th after a super slow 16.6-second stop. He battled back toward the top, but could not chase down Truex. Last week’s wier at Michigan, Kyle Larso...

Busch was urged by his team to save fuel and go hard for the win on the final lap. The 2004 champion did all he could to conserve fuel in the No. 41 Chevrolet and even shut off the engine headed into the tus. Told he was two laps shy, Busch not only had enough fuel left to win his first race of the season but enough for victory buouts and a celebratory lap around the track. “The way the fuel mileage played out, I didn’t know if we’d have enough,” Busch said. “This is a wonderful win for us. We’d been so close all year.” Busch won with interim crew chief John Klausmeier, ...

Eahardt is winless for the season through 13 races, and his recent swoon has him hoping he can dig out of his slump at Pocono Raceway. Eahardt’s late-career renaissance in the No. 88 Chevrolet really took off at Pocono in 2014 when he swept both races. Back at the tri-oval track, Eahardt starts eighth in Sunday’s race. He won seven Sprint Cup races in 2014-15 and does have three ruer-up finishes this season. But over the last five races, Eahardt h...
