Roundup: La Mirada wraps up Suburban League baseball season with win

La Mirada’s baseball team, which has won 16 Suburban League titles in the past 19 years, wrapped up its regular season Friday with a 6-0 win over Cerritos (18-13, 6-6). Senior Kevin Kendall had three hits and Chad Wilson hit his second home run of the season for the Matadores (23-5, 11-1).

GLENN 3, MAYFAIR 0 >> Junior Alex Alcaraz had two RBIs for the Eagles (17-11, 8-4).

JSERRA 1, ST. JOHN BOSCO 0 >> The Trinity League champion Braves (24-7, 11-4) fell in their final regular-season game.

Swimming and diving

Valley Christian diver Aaron Augustine advanced to the CIF State Meet after finishing second in the CIF-SS Division 4 Finals. Augustine placed 13th overall across all four CIF Divisions.

Emma Mehus qualified for the CIF-SS Division 4 Finals in the 50-yard freestyle for St. Anthony as did Adam Miller (100 butterfly) and Ian Padilla (200 and 500 freestyle). All three Saints will compete on Friday.

Correction

The Suburban League softball results listed on Thursday were incorrect. Cerritos (17-4, 11-1) is the outright league champion after Mayfair’s upset win at La Mirada (21-8, 10-2) on Wednesday.
