However, La Mirada won the meet with five of the top eight finishers and all but clinched a share of the league title. Three days ago, however, Akor was not an entry as she continued her training for the Philadelphia Marathon next month. Akor, who has won multiple marathons before today, did not plan to run Long Beach until deciding on Friday to enter in the race and use it for training. “I just wanted something that would see where I am and Long Beach was the one that was close to home,” Akor, a Hawthoe native said. SAN PEDRO >> The 8th aual Conquer the Bridge Run Monday moing through the streets of San Pedro, including going back and forth over the Vincent Thomas Bridge, had a youthful feel to it as 13-year old Devin Ito, of Temecula, took home the women’s individual championship for the second straight year in a time of 35 minutes, 41 seconds.
