Organizers of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach like to brag that it has never rained on the day of Sunday’s main event.

It looks like that streak will continue this year.

In addition to ear plugs, race fans may want to bring sun block to the 42nd aual event in downtown Long Beach. Weather forecasters predict a 74-degree day on Friday in Long Beach, with temperatures rising to 75 degrees on Saturday and 78 degrees on Sunday.

Stuart Seto, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, said the Grand Prix streak of clear skies will hold up this weekend.

“It looks like it’s going to be pretty nice, mostly clear through the period,” Seto said.

The beaches should see temperatures around 70 degrees over the weekend, with the temperature rising to around 80 degrees inland.

According to some estimates, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, the city’s largest event of the year, nets more than $40 million in revenue for the city. Close to 180,000 people attend the event, staying in hotels, eating at restaurants and buying goods.
