Alan Jouban vs. Nordine Taleb slated for UFC Fight Night on July 7

Alan Jouban just became part of a historic weekend for the UFC in Las Vegas.

Coming off an impressive first-round TKO six weeks ago, the Los Angeles welterweight has agreed to fight Nordine Taleb at UFC Fight Night on July 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The UFC has scheduled three cards on three consecutive nights, starting with UFC Fight Night featuring a lightweight title fight between champion Rafael Dos Anjos and No. 2 contender Eddie Alvarez.

The 34-year-old Jouban (13-4), who trains at Black House in Gardena and Saekson Muay Thai in Van Nuys, is 4-2 in the UFC. Looking to overcome a first-round TKO loss to Albert Tumenov in October, Jouban brutalized Brendan O’Reilly at UFC Fight Night in Brisbane, Australia, with a series of punches, kicks and elbows.

“I feel like I’m in the position I want to be in again,” Jouban said Monday. “Going in there against another top welterweight prospect for the opportunity to get a big win and be one step closer to being in the top 15.”

Also 34, Taleb (11-3) is a French native who fights out of Montreal. He is 4-1 in the UFC, with his only loss coming in August to Warlley Alves — who also defeated Jouban in 2014 via a unanimous decision many thought should have gone to Jouban.

In his last fight, Taleb recorded a second-round TKO of Erick Silva at UFC 196 in March.

The UFC follows Fight Night with The Ultimate Fighter Finale, featuring women’s strawweight champion Joaa Jedrzejczyk in a rematch against top-ranked Claudia Gadelha, on July 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

On July 9 at T-Mobile Arena, UFC 200 features two title fights:

• A highly anticipated and heated rematch between light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and top-ranked Jon Jones, who was stripped of his belt because of an arrest last year for felony hit-and-run.

• Women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate making her first defense against No. 4 Amanda Nunes.
