The CIF Southe Section Open Division basketball playoff brackets were released Saturday moing, with the three local teams in the powerhouse playoffs leaing their first-round games.

Los Alamitos’ boys basketball team will travel to face Sierra Canyon in a first-round game on Friday, while Compton will be on the road against Corona Centeial.

The Long Beach Poly girls basketball team was the top seed for the Open Division bracket and will host Fairmont Prep Saturday night.

Long Beach State Basketball

The Long Beach State men’s basketball team got a road Big West win by topping UC Davis 57-48 behind a big night from Gabe Levin. The sophomore had 23 points and 12 rebounds in the win for Long Beach State (14-12, 8-3 Big West).

Long Beach State also got 12 points and eight boards from Nick Faust, while the recently retued Branford Jones added seven points while playing 37 minutes.

The 49ers are third place in the Big West, and won’t play again until Saturday against Cal State Fullerton in the Walter Pyramid at 7:30 p.m.

LBCC baseball

Longtime LBCC baseball coach Casey Crook inched closer to history Saturday evening, as his Vikings defeated L.A. Mission 13-1 at Joe Hicks Memorial Field. The win puts Crook’s all-time wins total at 513, and ties him with Hicks for most in team history.

LBCC had 14 hits in the win, while getting a solid five-iing outing from starting pitcher Tai Tiedema. The Vikings (4-3) will have their first chance to give Crook his piece of history on Tuesday, when they host Oxnard College at 2 p.m.

Prep track and field

It was a big day for local athletes at the Califoia Indoor/Outdoor Winter Track Championship at Cerritos College.

Long Beach Poly sophomore Ariyoa Augustine won the 60-meter race with a time of 7.49 seconds.

The Los Alamitos Track Club, which has several members of the Los Al high school team ruing, took second overall as a team thanks to several strong performances.

Junior Jose Rubio finished in fourth place in the long jump (22 feet) and fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles (8.38 seconds).

Middle distance ruer Ashley Willingham took second place in the 600 meters (1:32.55) and followed that up with a fourt- place finish in the 300 (39.71).
