NHL: Ducks open 2016-17 with 4 road games; Kings start at San Jose

The Ducks will begin Randy Carlyle’s second stint as their coach by opening the 2016-17 season with four games on the road, starting with their season opener Oct. 13 at Dallas.

Teams were allowed Monday to aounce dates for their home openers as the full NHL schedule will be released Tuesday. The Ducks will serve as the visiting team for three others — New York Islanders (Oct. 16), New Jersey (Oct. 18) and Philadelphia (Oct. 20).

After their season-opening road trip, the Ducks retu to Honda Center for their home opener against Vancouver on Oct. 23.

The Kings will travel to San Jose to open their season against the Weste Conference champion Sharks on Oct. 12 — the NHL’s Opening Night. It will be a rematch of their first-round series this spring, won by San Jose in five games.

Following that short trip, the Kings retu home to face Philadelphia on Oct. 14 in their home opener at Staples Center.

Other games on the league’s first night include St. Louis at Chicago and Calgary at Edmonton. Pittsburgh hosts Washington on Oct. 13 in a matchup of the Stanley Cup champion against the Presidents’ Trophy wier.
