The Ducks traded goalie Frederik Andersen to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday for a first-round selection in this weekend’s NHL draft and a second-round choice in 2017.
The pick the Ducks got for this year is the 30th selection overall. The Ducks also have their own first-round pick, the 24th overall choice.
Andersen’s future with the Ducks was in question the moment the season ended, given his status as a restricted free agent and the presence of John Gibson also in their net. Long seen as their goalie of the future, Gibson was signed to a three-year contract extension that kicks in July 1.
