Long Beach Little League hosts opening day with 500 kids, new division

Play ball!

Long Beach Little League began its 2016 spring season Saturday with all the pomp and circumstance once would expect: a color guard, flag raising, dedications and more than 500 kids in uniform.

The weather cooperated as well; the suy skies provided perfect playing conditions for the first day of ball at Steas Championship Park.

This year also included the debut of the Challenger Division, allowing kids with mental and physical disabilities a chance to play.
