Dodgers acquire Rich Hill, Josh Reddick from Oakland

With two hours before the major-league trade deadline, the Dodgers made their big move Monday.

The Dodgers acquired starting pitcher Rich Hill and outfielder Josh Reddick from the Oakland A’s for a trio of pitching prospects.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal first reported the trade, which was confirmed by the Dodgers an hour and 10 minutes later.

As part of the deal, the Dodgers will be trading minor-leaguers Frankie Montas, Grant Holmes and Jharel Cotton.

Hill, 36, hasn’t pitched since mid-July because of a blister and is currently on the disabled list. In 14 starts, the left-hander is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 90/28 K/BB ratio.

He is eligible to be activated from the disabled list as early as Tuesday,

Reddick, 29, is slashing .296/.368/.449 from the left side, with eight home runs and 28 RBIs in 68 games.

He missed 34 games in May and June after breaking his left thumb sliding into second base.

Hill and Reddick are both impending free agents. Hill is making $6 million this season and Reddick $6.575 million.

Montas, who was acquired along with Trayce Thompson and Micah Johnson from the Chicago White Sox in the offseason, underwent rib resection surgery in February that sidelined him four months. The 23-year-old right-hander is currently out after aggravating his injury and breaking a rib in late June.

Regarded as one of the Dodgers’ top pitching prospects, Holmes was the Dodgers’ first-round pick in 2014. The 20-year-old right-hander is 8-4 with a 4.016 ERA and 1.386 WHIP for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Cotton, 24, is 8-5 with a 4.901 ERA and 1.151 WHIP for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 5-foot-11 right-hander was drafted in the 20th round of the 2012 draft.
