UCLA head coach Jim Mora extended support and condolences to Arizona after offensive lineman Zach Hemmila died in his sleep Sunday night.
Hemmila, 22, was a fifth-year senior who was preparing to take the starting center position for the Wildcats.
He was part of Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez’s first recruiting class in Tucson.
“We’ve been through that here and we know what it’s like,” Mora said. “Our hearts and our prayers and our thoughts are with the University of Arizona and Rich Rod and the young man’s family. It’s just horrible. If there’s anything we can do for them, we will certainly be here to support them.”
UCLA also lost a player in 2013 when receiver Nick Pasquale died after being hit by a car.
