Noteworthy: Artesia (4-1, 1-0 Suburban League) is having its best start since 2008 thanks in large part to ruing back Jordan Benoit. Friday night in a narrow win over Bellflower, he rushed for three touchdowns and 207 yards on just 10 carries, including a breathtaking 93-yard touchdown run. His other touchdown runs were of 40 and 31 yards.

“We’ve been able to run the ball very well with our senior Jordan Benoit,” Artesia coach Joe Veach said. “He’s been doing very well.”

Benoit has rushed for 594 yards on 64 carries, a 9.3 yard average, and has scored 11 of the 13 rushing touchdowns for the Pioneers.
