Long Beach City College duo Sarah Miller and Paige Panter win PCAC championship

The Long Beach City College duo of Sarah Miller and Paige Panter won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference beach volleyball championship at Granada Beach on Friday. Miller and Panter defeated Kiaa Niu and Brittany Mitchell of Palomar 22-20, 21-15 in windy conditions.

“I didn’t put any expectations on these girls for the first year,” LBCC coach Misty May-Treanor said. “We started to make goals toward the middle of the beach season.”

The Vikings (13-4, 8-4) finished their inaugural season in third place (13-4, 8-4) in the PCAC.

“To finish third in this conference, the PCAC, is quite a feat.” May-Treanor said. “If we can just keep improving every time we step on the sand, that’s what we want for these girls,”

Regional playoffs begin on May 2 for the Vikings.
