As long as we’re on this “best of enemies” theme with the Lakers and Celtics, consider the one historical and hysterical way Boston GM Day Ainge could mess with any Magic Johnson Laker-related mojo at this moment.

Ainge controls the first pick in this year’s meet-and-greet market, and knowing his team really has no need for a rookie at any particular position, he could simply choose Washington one-and-done guard Markelle Fultz as everyone suggests and be done with it. Even better, as the word seems to be, he could trade with Philadelphia for whatever lost talent the Sixers have to dump.

Or …

Keep the pick, and turn over the tables to secure a different 19-year-old guard from the Pac-12 – UCLA’s Lonzo Ball. Then, as the Lakers are trying to figure out their next move, Ainge trades him to another team -- sure, let’s make it the Clippers, based on a Jerry West recommendation.

In some mock drafts, the first nine projected picks are all college freshman, and that doesn’t include UCLA’s Ike Anigbogu and T.J. Leaf. For the first time, the Las Vegas is taking prop bets (as it did with the NFL draft), and one of them is: Total UCLA players drafted in Round 1. There’s a four-game series all set to go against the all-messed-up New York Mets that may draw more national attention (Monday-Thursday, 7:10 p.m., SNLA, plus ESPN on Tuesday and Wednesday). But in the NL West, there’s more important business. If things hold up as they have over the last few weeks, the Rockies and Dodgers will still be one of the few teams playing .600 ball coming into this series. The Dodgers have lost three of the five previous meetings, and Clayton Kershaw, scheduled to start the series opener against rookie Kyle Freeland, is 1-1 against the Rockies already this season.

NO. 4: SAILING: 35th AMERICA’S CUP

Maybe the coolest thing about this trip to wine country are all the vintage races that take place on the 2.5 mile road course on the landfill that used to be known as Sears Point, just off the 101 north of San Francisco. It’s worth an early summer vacation for those who can’t get enough from the Fontana oval experience.

NO. 10: BEACH VOLLEYBALL: AVP SEATTLE OPEN
