Ranking the top 10 sports events June 19-25 you won’t want to miss:
As long as we’re on this “best of enemies” theme with the Lakers and Celtics, consider the one historical and hysterical way Boston GM Day Ainge could mess with any Magic Johnson Laker-related mojo at this moment.
Ainge controls the first pick in this year’s meet-and-greet market, and knowing his team really has no need for a rookie at any particular position, he could simply choose Washington one-and-done guard Markelle Fultz as everyone suggests and be done with it. Even better, as the word seems to be, he could trade with Philadelphia for whatever lost talent the Sixers have to dump.
Or …
Keep the pick, and turn over the tables to secure a different 19-year-old guard from the Pac-12 – UCLA’s Lonzo Ball. Then, as the Lakers are trying to figure out their next move, Ainge trades him to another team -- sure, let’s make it the Clippers, based on a Jerry West recommendation.
How loudly would LaVar Ball’s head explode?
In some mock drafts, the first nine projected picks are all college freshman, and that doesn’t include UCLA’s Ike Anigbogu and T.J. Leaf. For the first time, the Las Vegas is taking prop bets (as it did with the NFL draft), and one of them is: Total UCLA players drafted in Round 1. It’s set at 2.5 with the over at minus-400 and the under at plus-330 by Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.

By the end of the week, the final two teams should be sorted out to begin the best-of-three final starting June 26. If you’re invested in Cal State Fullerton’s future, check the consolation bracket that begins Monday.

There’s a four-game series all set to go against the all-messed-up New York Mets that may draw more national attention (Monday-Thursday, 7:10 p.m., SNLA, plus ESPN on Tuesday and Wednesday). But in the NL West, there’s more important business. If things hold up as they have over the last few weeks, the Rockies and Dodgers will still be one of the few teams playing .600 ball coming into this series. The Dodgers have lost three of the five previous meetings, and Clayton Kershaw, scheduled to start the series opener against rookie Kyle Freeland, is 1-1 against the Rockies already this season.

The Kings have the 11th overall pick; the Ducks’ 29th pick was traded to Dallas. New Jersey has the first choice, expected to take Canadian 18-year-old center Nolan Patrick, with expansion Las Vegas slotted at No. 6.

The Angels wiing two of three against the Yankees in Anaheim last week has to count for something.
The Sparks have already made a trip to Indiana this season: A 93-90 loss on May 24 after blowing a 14-point lead in the second half. This starts three in a row on the road for the Sparks, who aren’t back at Staples Center until July 2.
One of those weeks with two games to play – this one is after a trip to Colorado to face the Rapids on Wednesday (6 p.m., SSN).
Maybe the coolest thing about this trip to wine country are all the vintage races that take place on the 2.5 mile road course on the landfill that used to be known as Sears Point, just off the 101 north of San Francisco. It’s worth an early summer vacation for those who can’t get enough from the Fontana oval experience.
The fourth stop of the seven-event AVP Tour. A year ago, Billy Allen and Theo Bruer defeated Taylor and Trevor Crabb for the men’s title, while Lane Carico and Summer Ross won the women’s championship. More info: avp.com.
