Lisa Feandez (St. Joseph), one of the greatest high school pitchers in history, will be inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) National High School Hall of Fame on July 2 at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
Feandez still ranks second nationally with a 0,07 career eaed-run average and during her four years at St. Joseph, she won 80 games, 69 which were by shutout and 37 were no-hitters with 12 perfect games as well. She threw three perfect games in a row in 1989.
College
The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) released its list of All-Academic Award recipients for 2017 on Tuesday and Long Beach State had 11 women’s water polo players on the list. Players who achieve a GPA of 3.20 or higher qualify for All-Academic status, and LBSU had 11 of the 536 student-athletes recognized from across the country. Long Beach State’s team GPA of 3.5 ranked 5th in the country out of 44 schools, trailing only Iona (3.63 GPA), Washington & Jefferson College (3.63), Cal Baptist (3.56) and Harvard (3.52) in the team rankings. Long Beach State’s 11 All-Academic honorees from this past season were: seniors Alba Dominguez, Christina Kotsia, and Jackie Stanger, juniors Alexandra Massier and Virginia Smith, sophomores Aabel Harman and Kate Yasko, and freshmen Paige Beett, Sarah Hamman, Zoe Linford, and Cara Vejsicky.
