FRISCO, Texas >> Costa Rica sealed a spot in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for a 10th consecutive time thanks to a 3-0 win over French Guiana on Friday night at Toyota Stadum.
With the victory, Costa Rica ran its record to two wins, one draw and no losses.
French Guiana fell to 0-0-3 and was eliminated.
The result also put the Ticos atop the Group A table, ahead of second-place Canada (1-2-0, five points) and third-place Honduras (1-1-1, four points).
Three different players got on the scoresheet for Costa Rica, starting with Ariel Rodriguez in the fourth minute.
Marco Urena scored on the 79th minute and Bryan Ruiz closed the scoring in the 83rd.
Canada 0, Honduras 0 >> Canada and Honduras played to a 0-0 draw in Friday night’s later game. Because Canada failed to beat Honduras, Costa Rica, which didn’t win in four games at the 2015 Gold Cup, took the Group A title.
