A brief look at UCLA’s training camp practice at Spaulding Field:
Everyone wins
Instead only the winning side run at the end of the team competition, both the offense and defense took a celebratory lap after the final team period. The No. 1 offense scored a touchdown against the No. 2 defense with quarterback Josh Rosen connecting with receiver Darren Andrews from 10 yards out. The No. 2 offense went backward for the majority of its drive, thanks to a false start, delay of game and sack from Jacob Tuioti-Mariner that came on back-to-back-to-back plays. The No. 3 defense settled for a 45-yard field goal from J.J. Molson.
Injuries
Defensive lineman Boss Tagaloa sustained what appeared to be a minor injury in a team period halfway through practice. The sophomore rode the stationary bike on the sideline and did not retu to the field. Offensive lineman Poasi Molal was also riding the stationary bike.
Wide receiver Demetric Felton practiced in a yellow, non-contact jersey for the second straight day. Linebacker Leni Toailoa wore a yellow jersey for the first time in camp.
Quote of the day
“The positive side is you get to see a lot. You’re not just sitting in one offense and sharpening a sword that’s been sharpened for a long time.” — Quarterback Josh Rosen, on playing in three offensive systems in three years
