
The Wilson High boys golf team opened the season Monday afteoon with a first place finish out of 16 teams during the Servite Invitational at Weste Hills Country Club in Chino Hills.
The Bruins finished with an overall score of 373 to edge out Mater Dei (379), while the host Friars came in seventh (398) and Los Alamitos finished eighth with a score of 401.
Wilson senior Hunter Epson took home individual medalist honors with a 2-under round of 70, which included four birdies. Epson was tied with Mater Dei’s Issei Tanabe after 18 holes and the two went to a sudden death playoff, which Epson won on the first hole.
Wilson senior Andrew Feandes made four birdies and finished in third place with a 71.
The Bruins will be in Dallas, TX on Friday and Saturday to play in the Lay Wadkins Cup at Bent Tree Country Club.
