Athletic director Pat Haden attends USC men's basketball game

USC athletic director Pat Haden attended Wednesday night’s basketball game against Oregon State, his first appearance at the Galen Center since he was hospitalized nearly a month ago after collapsing on campus.

Haden appeared in good spirits and attended the game with his family.

USC regroups

After losing five of six games, USC was cruising against Oregon State, leading 73-53 with 8:41 remaining. Jordan McLaughlin led USC with 17 points.

Good start

USC shook off its recent slump by taking a 56-33 lead over Oregon State at halftime. The Trojans shot 62 percent and outscored the Beavers 18-4 over the final five minutes of the half.

Jordan McLaughlin led USC with 12 points. Beie Boatwright and Katin Reinhardt each added 10 points.

Clark retus

USC forward Darion Clark, who missed several weeks with a separated shoulder, entered Wednesday’s game with 6:30 left in the first half and promptly scored on his first shot. Clark made his first two shots of the game.

Tinkle out

Oregon State’s star forward, Tres Tinkle, did not play because of a leg injury. Tinkle averages 13.1 points and 5.4 rebounds.

Pac-12 Touament status check

Entering the Oregon State game, USC would play Arizona State in the first round of the Pacific-12 Touament with the wier set to play Califoia based on the current standings. USC is 1-1 against Arizona State and 0-1 against Cal.

Boyd’s number to be retired

Former USC coach Bob Boyd, who was also a Trojans player, will have his No. 19 retired next season, according to his son, Bill. Earlier this season, USC retired the No. 10 wo by Gus Williams.

Boyd died last year and a public memorial was held at the Galen Center.

Cheryl Miller honored

The Pac-12 named former USC women’s basketball player Cheryl Miller its women’s basketball player of the century. Also named to the team from USC were forwards Tina Thompson, Lisa Leslie and Pam McGee, along with guard Cynthia Cooper.
