Must-see matches in the LA Galaxy 2016 schedule

Here are six Galaxy matches you should have circled for the 2016 MLS season:

April 10 vs. Portland, 6:30 p.m., Fox Sports 1

The defending MLS champions only visit StubHub Center once in 2016 and April’s matchup is the first time the Galaxy face the Timbers since Portland crushed L.A. at StubHub Center last October.

May 22 vs. San Jose, 4 p.m., Fox Sports 1

The first Califoia Clasico is on March 19 at StubHub Center, but the second one could prove to be much better quality. With so much offseason tuover, the Galaxy will surely still be figuring things out in the first meeting of the Califoia rivals. By May, if the Galaxy haven’t figured themselves out, it could signal big problems.

July 9 at Seattle, noon, ESPN

The Galaxy will retu to Seattle for the first time since their knockout round loss at CenturyLink Field last year. The atmosphere will be electric for the first meeting of the year between the Weste Conference foes.

Aug. 20 at New York City FC, 12:30 p.m., ESPN

Although last year’s much-anticipated showdown between NYCFC and the Galaxy tued out to be a dud, this year’s is still a big match as the Galaxy make their first-ever trip to Yankee Stadium.

Sept. 11 vs. Orlando, 4 p.m., Fox Sports 1

After Orlando smacked a 4-0 win on L.A. last year, the Galaxy get to host the expansion side for the first time in September.

Oct. 1 at FC Dallas, 6 p.m., TV TBD

The Galaxy have to wait until October to get their first crack at the defending Weste Conference champions and face FC Dallas twice in the final three games of the season. Playing well late in the season on the road to lock down a good seed in the playoffs will be a big test for L.A.
