SoCal Prep Legends Girls Athlete of the Week

Noteworthy: Duran netted two first half goals Friday night at Warren High to give the Matadores a comfortable lead in an eventual 4-1 CIF Southe Section Division 4 championship game victory over Moorpark.

“I feel so excited, I’m just so happy,” she said. “It’s the best feeling in the world. I just felt like I had to do everything possible to help my team to win so I tried to come out as hard as I could.”

Two-time defending Division 4 champion La Mirada is the top seed in the upcoming State playoffs and will host No. 8 Southwest SD in the opening round Tuesday at 4 p.m.
