SoCal Prep Legends Boys Athlete of the Week

YEAR: SENIOR

Noteworthy: Pichedwatana became the area’s top-finisher Saturday afteoon by claiming fourth place at 160 pounds during the CIF State Wrestling Championships at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield.

After a setback in the semifinals, he responded with a win during his bubble match to ea a spot in the third-place bout.

Despite coming up short in the final match, the fourth place finish was the best out of any of the 10 locals who qualified for the touament, and the best finish for Mayfair since 2001.

“It’s been a really crazy roller coaster,” he said. “I never thought I’d make it this far. I’m here at State and it’s amazing to place fourth.”

The senior plans to enter next month’s National Touament in Virginia.
