LA Kings play host to ex-teammate Justin Williams, Washington Capitals

Update: >> The Kings welcome ex-teammate Justin “Mr. Game 7” Williams to Staples Center for the first time since he signed a two-season, $6.5-million contract with the Capitals last summer. Williams helped lead the Kings to Stanley Cup titles in 2012 and ‘14 and was the Co Smythe Trophy wier as the MVP of the playoffs during their second championship run. He has 19 goals and 45 points for the league-leading Capitals (49-13-4). Alex Ovechkin leads the Capitals and the NHL with 41 goals, although he was blanked in their 2-1 shootout victory Monday over the Ducks. Jeff Carter scored twice to reach the 300-goal mark for his career during the Kings’ 5-1 victory Monday over the Vancouver Canucks. Kings center Anze Kopitar also scored Monday, reaching the 20-goal mark for the eighth time in his career. The Kings are 39-22-4, one point behind the first-place Ducks in the Pacific Division.
