SoCal Prep Legends Girls Athlete of the Week

NAME: MADDIE BENNETT

Noteworthy: After her team made its first-ever appearance in the CIF Division IV State Playoffs last season, Beett wanted her high school career to finish at the highest point possible and accomplished just that when the Matadores defeated Moorpark 1-0 in Saturday’s Southe Califoia Regional final. The University of Arizona commit scored a goal in Tuesdays’ first-round win over San Diego Southwest, tallied two more to go with an assist in Thursday’s semifinal win over Oxnard and finished the week by delivering the cross that led to the only goal of the championship match, scored by freshman Megan Day.

“I’m so overly happy and excited,” she said. “We’ve had such a long season and wiing back-to-back CIF and now (the Regiional), it’s unbelievable. It’s an awesome experience.”
