Area roundup: Dumser pitches no-hitter for La Mirada baseball

La Mirada High School’s Shawn Dumser pitched a no-hitter Wednesday afteoon to lead the Matadores baseball team to a 7-0 victory over visiting Lakewood in the second game of a doubleheader.

Earlier, La Mirada (6-3) dropped a 1-0 contest to the Lancers (5-4).

La Mirada retus to the field Friday at 3 p.m. against Serra in the St. Paul touament. Lakewood will face Palos Verdes on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Redondo touament.

Softball

La Mirada swept a double-header from West Covina, wrapping up the day with a 4-2 victory behind a three-run second iing.

The Matadores (5-6) will retire Jeie Finch’s number 27 on Tuesday prior to opening Suburban League play with a 3:15 p.m. tilt against Mayfair.

MILLIKAN 5, SOUTH TORRANCE 4 >> Isabella Filorio’s single in the bottom of the seventh iing scored the wiing run to complete a come-from-behind victory during pool play at the TNT touament.

WARREN 6, SANTA FE 2 >> The Bears came from behind with two runs in the fifth iing and three in the sixth to pick up the win at home.

Ashley Machado went 4 for 4, including a solo home run and two doubles.

Girls swimming

POLY 106, HUNTINGTON BEACH 64 >> The Jackrabbits cruised to a nonleague victory. Isabella Magalong won the 200 freestyle (2:03.37) and 100 butterfly (1:02.20) and Anja Oca took first in the 200 individual medley (2:14.16) and the 500 freestyle (5:26.90).

Both were part of first-place relay teams in the 200 medley and the 200 freestyles.

Poly is set to take on Lakewood on Friday in Moore League action.

Boys golf

WILSON 275, MARINA 310 >> The Bruins improved to 4-1 with a 14-hole victory at Recreation Park Golf Course behind sophomore Tyler Schafer, who eaed medalist honors with a 4-under 52.

Hunter Epson and Andrew Feandes had rounds of 54 and 55, respectively. Nick Lombino was the low finisher for Marina with a 59.

Wilson will face Edison today at SeaCliff Country Club.

Boys teis

VALLEY CHRISTIAN 12, FAIRMONT PREP 6 >> The Crusaders improved to 4-2 with a win at home behind three wins from the doubles tandem of Guiliano Addessi and Isaiah Kim and two singles wins each from Caleb Soto and Austin Kyan.

V.C. will be at Whitney on Friday.
