Video: Los Alamitos vs. Gahr softball

LOS ALAMITOS >> In a matchup of the two highest ranked high school softball teams in the greater Long Beach area, Los Alamitos came from behind at home to beat Gahr, 6-4, on Tuesday afteoon.

The Griffins (11-1) are No. 2 in CIF-SS Division 1 and are No. 1 in the nation according to MaxPreps. The Gladiators (10-4-1) are No. 2 in CIF-SS Division 2.

Los Alamitos junior first baseman Lindsi Deis delivered a 2-RBI double in the sixth iing on Tuesday to complete the Griffin comeback. She’s been filling in at first base due to injury.

“I’m not surprised,” Los Alamitos head coach Rob Weil said of Deis’ success. “These kids prepare everyday like starters.”

“It’s fun to be an underdog,” Deis said. “Now I’ve got a lot more confidence.”

The Gladiators (10-4-1) took a 3-2 lead on Dejanae Davis’ fifth iing RBI single. Junior Ryan Denhart eaed the victory in the circle for Los Alamitos while striking out seven batters.
