Will the LA Rams play in China in 2018?

With the NFL continually looking to expand its global brand, the league is eying China as a possible location to play a regular-season game.

Nothing is official yet, but my all measures it looks like the NFL will play there in 2018 and that the Rams will likely be one of the participants.

On Wednesday the NFL’s aual league meetings, Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed the league is looking into playing games in China and said he was “Excited about that potential.”

A high-ranking league source indicated Wednesday if the NFL does play in China, the Rams will “be in the mix.”

If so, it will be their second straight inteational game after playing this year against the New York Giants in London.

Which all makes sense. Throughout the NFL’s relocation process to L.A., league sources hinted that whoever ended up in Los Angeles would likely play at least one inteational game per season while their new stadium gets built.

The Rams will play the next three years at the Coliseum before moving into their new digs in Inglewood.

GOODELL TALKS RAIDERS, LAS VEGAS

The Raiders have made it clear they are at least open to considering a new home in Las Vegas, where a local businessman hopes to get a $1 billion stadium built and lure the Raiders there.

“Mark Davis is appropriately looking at all his alteatives,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. “Both San Diego and Oakland, they need to investigate those alteatives. Hope we can avoid any relocation to start with.”

Of course, should Las Vegas follow through with its plan to essentially offer the Raiders a free stadium, that will be hard for the NFL to ignore. Even with the gambling factor.

But as Goodell stressed, the decision will ultimately be in the hands of the 32 owners.

“Those are things we’d have to do deal with, would have to understand impact on us,” Goodell said. “Each owner would have a vote. It would be a factor many owners would have to balance, the league would have to balance.”
