Update: The Pacific Division-leading Kings (44-24-5) have clinched a Stanley Cup playoff berth and have a four-point lead over the second-place Ducks. The Kings also have a shot at finishing first in the Weste Conference and securing the top-seeded spot in the postseason. They trail the conference-leading Dallas Stars by four points and the second-place St. Louis Blues by two. The Kings have nine regular-season games remaining. They lost the first two games on their three-game trip, including a 2-1 defeat Tuesday to the Miesota Wild, a possible playoff opponent. Kings center Nic Dowd made his NHL debut Tuesday after Taer Pearson didn’t play because of personal reasons and Kris Versteeg sat out because of a foot injury. Dowd played 12 minutes, 15 seconds and he was on the ice for Tyler Toffoli’s second-period goal. The Jets are 30-37-6, last in the Central Division.
