Formula E race in Long Beach: Everything you need to know

Formula E comes roaring (quietly) back to Long Beach on Saturday, with all-electric cars racing on a slightly shortened track near the Long Beach waterfront.

If you plan to attend, or live nearby, here’s everything you need to know.

Admission

Last year the event was free; this year it will cost you $30 for general admission. Children under 12 get in for free, with discount tickets for kids 13-16 and seniors over 60.

Gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday, with the first practice at 8:15 a.m. After several qualifying events, the main race begins at 4 p.m., with a podium ceremony at 5:15 p.m.

Activities

The eVillage Fan Zone will give fans an up-close look at the drivers and cars, as well as street dancing and displays of electric vehicles.

On the track, (in addition to racing), there will be demonstrations of electric karts, exotic electric cars and even an electric Big Foot monster truck.

Fans can also visit the FanBoost, where they can vote to give their favorite driver an additional booster of energy that can be used during the second half of the race.

Road closures

If you don’t attend the race but live nearby, here’s what you need to know.

Begiing Friday at noon, the following will be closed:

• Westbound Shoreline Drive from Ocean Boulevard to Shoreline Village Drive

• Eastbound Shoreline Drive from Shoreline Village Drive to Ocean Boulevard.

• Linden and Shoreline Drive - Marina Side

• Linden and Shoreline Drive - LBCC Side

• Seaside Way from Pine Ave to Linden

As of 2 p.m. Friday:

• Westbound Shoreline Drive from Shoreline Village Drive to Aquarium Way

• Eastbound Shoreline Drive from Aquarium Way to Shoreline Village Drive

On Saturday, begiing at 5 a.m.:

• Seaside Way from Pine Avenue to Linden

On Saturday, begiing at 6 a.m.:

• Westbound Shoreline Drive from Shoreline Village Drive to Aquarium Way

• Eastbound Shoreline Drive from Aquarium Way to Shoreline Village Drive

• Pine Avenue from Ocean Boulevard to Shoreline Drive

• Shoreline Village Drive from Shoreline Drive to Marina Access Road

• Seaside Way from Linden to Inteational Towers

Most streets will reopen after 7 p.m.
