After defeating San Dimas, 11-2, on Monday afteoon at the Anaheim Lions Touament, Wilson High School’s baseball team used a four-run fourth iing Tuesday en route to an 8-2 victory over Hemet.

Senior Jack Williford not only picked up the win on the mound, giving up one run on five hits and striking out seven over six iings, but he also had a big day at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with four RBIs. The Bruins (8-7) continue touament play today at 11 a.m.

Marina 8, POLY 6 >> At the Ryan Lemmon Touament, the Jackrabbits suffered a setback against Marina.

BREA OLINDA 2, PARAMOUNT 1 >> Brea Olinda made its two-run first iing hold up against the Pirates in the opening round of the Ryan Lemmon Touament.

ST. MONICA 3, JORDAN 2 >> A two-run fourth iing for St Monica did the Panthers in at the St. Paul Touament.

FRESNO STATE 10, LONG BEACH STATE 5 >> The No. 17 Dirtbags (16-8) couldn’t recover after giving up four runs in the first iing and suffered a setback on the road during their final nonconference matchup.

LBSU chipped away with a run in the second, two in the fourth and one each in the sixth and seventh, but the Bulldogs (17-8) had an answer each time.

Luke Rasmussen homered for the Dirtbags in the second and David Banuelos paced the offense with three RBIs. Jesse Medrano had two hits and four RBIs for Fresno.

Long Beach retus to the field Friday at 6 p.m. when it opens Big West play against No. 18 UC Santa Barbara at Blair Field.

NCAA men’s golf

Long Beach State came up big at the 35th Anteater Invitational at El Niguel Country Club as the 49ers came from behind to win the team title and senior Daniel Chian took home individual medalist honors.

LBSU had a 296 to move past touament host UC Irvine for the top spot. The Anteaters finished with a 308 and Long Beach completed the two-day 54-hole touament with a 27-over 891, wiing the touament by seven shots.

For Chian, it was his second medalist finish of the season. He he finished with a 1-over 217 ahead of Long Beach’s Kevin Lee and Christopher Crawford (Drexel) by two shots.

The 49ers retu to action on April 11 for the UCSB Intercollegiate at Sandpiper Golf Club.
