LA Rams finalize deal with Cal Lutheran for temporary facility

For the next few years, the Los Angeles Rams will be operating just outside of Los Angeles County.

The team has finalized a deal to build a temporary training facility at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, the school aounced Wednesday. The Rams will remain there for at least two years, and will pay to construct two practice fields, office buildings and a parking lot on campus.

Before moving to Cal Lutheran later this year, the team will begin offseason training activities next month in Oxnard. The Rams are also expected to finalize an agreement with UC Irvine to host their training camp in July and August.

“We are excited to partner with Cal Lutheran to use their exceptional campus as the temporary home for team facilities that will be outstanding for our players and football staff,” Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff said in a statement. “The Rams look forward to becoming an integral part of the Cal Lutheran and Thousand Oaks communities as we establish our roots in Southe Califoia.”

The Rams will use the Cal Lutheran site for offseason activities next year from March through July. The university has some experience hosting an NFL team, with the Dallas Cowboys having held its training camp there from 1963 to 1989.

“We are thrilled to be part of the retu of the Rams and NFL football to Los Angeles,” Cal Lutheran president Chris Kimball said in a statement.
