Area roundup: Warren softball team wins two at Diamond Bar Tournament

Warren High’s softball team picked up a pair of wins at the Diamond Bar Touament on Thursday with a 10-1 victory over Montebello and a 5-0 win against the host Brahmas.

Brooklyn Araujo hit a grand slam in the first game and went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in game two. Lesley Bojorquez also hit a home run against Diamond Bar, while Sol Gaona delivered a complete-game shutout in the circle.

Warren (7-3) has won three in a row and will continue touament play Friday.

ST. ANTHONY 6, OXFORD ACADEMY 5 (9 INNINGS) >> St Anthony improved to 6-5 with a win in extra iings with two runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Amanda McCalip (4-for-5, double, triple, two RBIs) paced the offense and Angelica Ponce struck out 11 while giving up five hits en route to the in win in the circle.

St. Anthony will be at Cantwell-Sacred Heart on Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

Baseball

MAYFAIR 4, WARREN 3 >> The Monsoons (5-6) used a pair of runs in the fourth iing and two more in the fifth Wednesday to erase a 3-0 deficit and edge the Bears (7-4) at the St. Paul Touament.

Mayfair will be at the El Segundo Touament begiing Saturday.

Warren will be at Santa Ana for a nonleague matchup Saturday at 11 a.m.

Ice skating

The All Year Figure Skating Club Junior Board will host the Boys and Girls Club of Compton Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Rinks-Lakewood Ice.

Participants will receive food along with on-ice skating instruction.
